Forty-five years ago, on July 7, 1981 (Showa 56), the current Emperor (His Imperial Highness Hirohito), who was a university student at the time, traveled all the way to Sera Town for a two-day, one-night research trip!
The purpose is to research the topic of my graduation thesis: "The History of Maritime Transportation in the Middle Ages."
Apparently, they visited 21 historical sites in the town.
This year marks exactly 45 years since your visit.
What kind of experiences did His Majesty the Emperor have in Sera during his youth? What did he learn there?
We will be holding a special commemorative event to look back on memories from that time.
Whether you're a history buff or simply curious about what Sera Town was like 45 years ago, please join us!

The Sera Town Tourism Association, a general incorporated association, has collaborated with Otafuku Sauce Co., Ltd. to commercialize a "Bulgogi-style sauce made with Sera pears that works magic on meat and vegetables," using pears grown in Sera Town. The sauce will go on sale at the Sera Roadside Station from Saturday, March 21, 2026.
This product uses non-standard pears that are not sold on the market due to poor shape or blemishes.
The sharp flavor of soy sauce with a hint of garlic is combined with the gentle sweetness of pear, easily elevating meat and vegetables to an authentic bulgogi-like flavor.
The initial production will be 380 bottles, with the aim of establishing it as a local specialty.
Please try it once.
